The Federal Road Safety Corps has warned commercial drivers in Kano to avoid overloading, speeding and reckless driving as the Eid al-Adha celebration approaches.

The advisory came as authorities began safety campaigns to reduce road accidents during the busy festive travel period.

The warning was delivered by Kano Sector Commander Idris Lawal during a road safety rally along the Kano–Zaria Road.

The event formed part of a nationwide awareness drive aimed at educating motorists and passengers on responsible driving ahead of the holiday season.

Officials also visited Kano Line Motor Park, where transport unions, drivers and passengers were addressed on the need to follow traffic rules strictly.

The campaign involved groups such as the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners.

Authorities said the campaign is part of the corps’ wider safety strategy for 2026 and urged drivers to remain disciplined on the road to help ensure safe travel during the festive period.
