Governor Siminalayi Fubara reaffirmed his position as the sitting governor of Rivers State while attending the final of the 2026 Port Harcourt Polo Tournament held in the state capital.
His appearance came amid ongoing political tension, but he projected confidence and continuity in leadership.
He said his administration remains firmly in charge of the state and committed to the promises made to residents, particularly those in riverine and coastal communities. According to him, governance has not been disrupted and government duties are ongoing.
Fubara explained that his focus remains on maintaining peace, safety, and stability across Rivers State. He described the protection of lives and property as the core responsibility of any government and said his administration is delivering on that duty.
He pointed to the successful hosting of the week-long polo tournament as proof that the state remains secure.
The absence of any security incident during the event, he said, showed that the government’s efforts are yielding results.
The governor assured residents that his administration will continue to function normally and deliver on its commitments. He said Rivers State remains safe, peaceful, and open for social and sporting activities under his leadership.
