IGP Moves To Tighten Security Nationwide
The Acting Inspector General of Police has directed commanders across the country to strengthen security around worship centres and public places amid growing safety concerns.
The order was issued to state commissioners and tactical units to step up vigilance.
The directive follows intelligence reports pointing to possible threats targeting crowded areas.
Police authorities say the move is aimed at preventing attacks and protecting lives, especially during periods of large gatherings.
Officers have been told to increase patrols, deploy more personnel to churches, mosques, parks and other busy spots, and work closely with community leaders.
Surveillance and stop-and-search operations are also expected to be expanded where necessary.
The police leadership assured citizens that the force remains alert and prepared to respond swiftly to any security breach, urging the public to remain calm and report suspicious activities promptly.
