INEC Postpones Nationwide Voter Revalidation
The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise, shifting it until after the 2027 general elections.
The decision affects efforts to update and verify the voter register ahead of the polls.
The commission said the move is part of its broader electoral timetable, prioritising ongoing preparations and other pre-election activities.
It indicated that existing voter records will remain in use for the 2027 elections.
Officials explained that the revalidation process would be carried out after the elections to allow for a more comprehensive update of the register.
The exercise is expected to address issues such as outdated data and voter transfers.
The development means eligible Nigerians will rely on current registration processes, including continuous voter registration, ahead of the next general elections.
