ISWAP Attacks Army Base In Adamawa
Suspected ISWAP fighters attacked a Nigerian Army base in Garahamojili, Adamawa State, on Sunday, leaving at least two soldiers dead.
The gunmen stormed the camp and exchanged fire with troops for about 20 minutes before taking control of the position.
The clash ended with two confirmed fatalities among the soldiers, while the number of injured personnel remains unclear.
Parts of the facility were set on fire, and three military vehicles parked inside the camp were destroyed in the blaze.
After overpowering the troops, the attackers reportedly seized weapons and ammunition before fleeing to an unknown location.
The assault adds to growing security worries in the state.
The military has not yet released an official statement on the incident or the scale of the damage.
Adamawa borders Borno, the heart of the insurgency, and has faced sporadic attacks in recent months.
