JAMB Halts UTME Town Selection in Ekiti
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has halted the choice of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in Ekiti State.
The decision affects candidates currently taking part in the ongoing registration process for the national entrance exam.
The development was announced on Tuesday in Abuja through a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
He explained that the move was taken to allow the board reorganise examination towns so candidates can be assigned centres closer to where they live, helping to ease travel stress on examination days.
He noted that while candidates are normally allowed to choose towns nearest to them, the 2026 UTME registration had already begun before structural anomalies were discovered in Ekiti’s examination town arrangement.
According to him, the issues required urgent correction in the interest of candidates, leading to the temporary suspension.
Consequently, candidates will be unable to select any examination town in Ekiti State while the adjustment process is ongoing.
This process is expected to be concluded shortly. The board regrets any inconvenience this temporary measure may cause candidates wishing to select examination towns in the ongoing registration exercise in Ekiti State.
