JAMB Speaks On 2026 UTME Eligibility
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said students already in higher institutions can register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry.
The clarification was made by JAMB in response to growing claims that undergraduates are banned from taking part in the next admission cycle. The board explained that no such restriction exists.
JAMB, however, warned that candidates who are already admitted elsewhere must clearly declare their current matriculation status during registration. Failure to do so, it said, could lead to serious consequences.
According to the board, any undergraduate who hides their status risks losing both their existing admission and any new one secured through UTME or Direct Entry, as JAMB’s system is designed to detect conflicting records.
