Kidnapped Ebonyi Monarch Found Dead
The Ebonyi State Police Command says the body of a kidnapped traditional ruler, Ezeogo Francis Igwe, has been recovered in the state.
The monarch, who was the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike in Ikwo Local Government Area, was also the father of a former deputy governor of Ebonyi.
Police authorities confirmed the discovery after days of search following the monarch’s abduction.
Security operatives located the body during ongoing efforts to track those behind the crime and restore calm in the community.
The traditional ruler had earlier been taken by unknown gunmen, a development that stirred fear among residents and drew attention from security agencies across the state.
His disappearance had triggered calls for urgent action to secure his release.
Police said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects responsible for the abduction and killing.
Authorities also assured residents that security operations in the area have been strengthened to prevent further attacks.
