Malami Wins ADC Kebbi Governorship Ticket
Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, who is currently facing an N8.7 billion fraud trial, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State for the 2027 elections.
His nomination was confirmed as the party concluded its selection process ahead of the polls.
Reports indicate that Malami, a senior lawyer and politician, secured the party’s ticket despite ongoing court proceedings linked to allegations of financial misconduct.
The case involves accusations of large-scale fraud connected to his time in public office, which he has continued to deny.
The ADC decision places Malami at the centre of Kebbi State’s 2027 political race, where he is expected to campaign on issues of governance, development, and security.
Party officials say his candidacy reflects internal consultations and support within the state chapter.
His emergence has added fresh attention to both his legal situation and the growing political realignments ahead of the next general election.
The ADC has continued its preparations for state-level contests as parties position themselves for 2027.
