Mass Defection Rocks Osun Assembly
Twenty-five members of the Osun State House of Assembly have left the Peoples Democratic Party and officially joined the Accord party.
The switch was announced during a sitting of the assembly, marking one of the largest political movements in the state legislature in recent times.
The lawmakers said they chose a platform they believe is more inclusive and focused on the people of Osun.
According to a statement by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu, they had resigned from the PDP weeks earlier before concluding consultations that led to their decision.
They explained that Accord aligns with their values and offers a steady base to push development and protect the interests of residents.
The legislators also declared their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and promised effective representation and open leadership.
The formal announcement took place at a meeting attended by the governor and senior Accord leaders.
The lawmakers urged their supporters to follow them, saying the move is aimed at strengthening governance and speeding up growth across the state.
