A fire outbreak has destroyed no fewer than 50 shops at the Fatima Simra Multi Purpose Market in the Dakata area of Kano State.

The incident happened late at night, leaving traders counting heavy losses by morning.

The blaze swept through the busy market, reducing goods and structures to ashes before it was brought under control.

Shop owners dealing in different items were affected, with many unable to salvage their property.

Residents and traders said the fire spread quickly, forcing people to watch helplessly as flames consumed the stalls.

Emergency responders later arrived at the scene to contain the situation and prevent further damage.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident as affected traders begin to assess the extent of their losses.
