NANS Demands Probe Over UNIJOS Killings
The National Association of Nigerian Students in Lagos has called on Bola Tinubu to set up a presidential panel to investigate the killing of a University of Jos student.
The demand follows the death of Abel Gershon, who was injured during the recent attack in Plateau State.
The student, a 300-level Building undergraduate at University of Jos, died after receiving treatment at Jos University Teaching Hospital.
The attack in Angwan Rukuba left several victims, with the death toll later rising to 33 after more casualties were recorded in hospital.
The students’ body said the proposed panel should identify those responsible, ensure prosecution, and suggest ways to prevent future attacks.
It also raised concerns over the safety of students, noting that learning environments should remain secure.
The group commended Babajide Sanwo Olu for helping evacuate Lagos students from the affected area, while urging authorities to act quickly to deliver justice and improve security across the country.
