NASS Backs Tantita As Oil Output Rises
Nigeria’s National Assembly has thrown its support behind the pipeline surveillance contract handled by Tantita Security Services, while dismissing petitions calling for its review.
Lawmakers took the decision during a session focused on oil sector security.
The move comes as the country’s crude oil production rises to about 1.8 million barrels per day, a development linked to improved monitoring of pipelines and reduced vandalism.
Officials say the current arrangement has helped stabilise output levels.
Petitions seeking the decentralisation of surveillance contracts across oil-producing states were rejected, with lawmakers maintaining that the existing structure remains effective.
They said altering it could disrupt ongoing gains in production.
The endorsement signals continued government support for the present pipeline security framework, as authorities aim to sustain output growth and protect critical oil infrastructure.
