Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that Israel will launch a “new front” aimed at protecting Christian communities across Africa and the Middle East, including Nigeria.
The announcement came during a speech on Wednesday, later published on the official YouTube channel of the Israeli Prime Minister. Speaking to an audience of Christian Zionists, Netanyahu said Israel’s efforts are expanding beyond military operations to address what he described as rising global threats to Judeo-Christian values.
He noted that while Israel recently faced a “seven-front war” and emerged largely victorious, a new challenge has arisen. The focus of this new front, he said, will be on influencing public opinion, particularly among young people, describing it as a battle for “hearts and minds.”
“I see the battle against us and the battle against our Judeo-Christian tradition basically being waged around the globe,” Netanyahu said.
He identified “radical Shiite Islam and radical Sunni Islam” as the main forces driving this challenge, pointing to Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood as key actors. He added that these threats extend beyond Israel, affecting allies such as the United States and the broader Western world.
Highlighting the situation of Christians, Netanyahu said Israel is aware of persecutions in countries including Syria, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Turkey. He claimed that Israel plays a unique role in safeguarding Christian communities and promoting their growth.
Netanyahu further announced plans to establish a coalition of countries, modeled on a United Nations framework, to support Christian communities worldwide, particularly those under threat.
