Osun Assembly Fumes Over INEC Move
The Osun State House of Assembly has raised concerns over the redeployment of the Resident Electoral Commissioner by the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Lawmakers said the move could affect the credibility of the poll.
The commission recently transferred REC Mutiu Agboke to another state following petitions alleging bias.
Political parties had earlier accused him of partisanship before the decision was taken.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun warned that further redeployments of key officials could weaken trust in the electoral process.
He said there were concerns about possible attempts to influence the outcome of the election.
The assembly insisted that no administrative change should override the will of the people. It also urged electoral officials to act within the law and ensure a free and fair governorship poll.
