Otti Clears Air On Abia Road Refund
In Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti said the state will not be reimbursed for fixing federal roads.
He explained that the Federal Government has no plan to refund states, adding that the option available is tolling for cost recovery.
He said rumours about repayment were based on misinformation and stressed that his administration will continue to repair roads used by residents.
According to him, the state gets approval in writing before taking over any federal road project.
Otti also addressed compensation issues on the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road, saying he expects the Federal Government to handle it since the project was awarded without funding.
He reaffirmed plans to improve infrastructure, support state policing efforts, and remain with the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He added that more electric buses are expected to boost transport in the state.
