Power Outage Causes Protest At Ikeja Electric Office

Residents of Gowon Estate in Egbeda, Lagos State, on Monday staged a protest against Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company over a long-running power outage that has kept parts of the community in darkness for months.

The action was driven by growing frustration over the lack of reliable electricity.
The protest was led by homeowners, tenants, and small business operators who said the blackout has disrupted daily life and hurt livelihoods.

The demonstration took place at Ikeja Electric’s office, where community members gathered to demand an explanation and immediate restoration of power.

The protesters maintained a peaceful stance while insisting that the company address the situation without further delay.

Residents said they had repeatedly reported the outage through official channels, visited customer service centres, and lodged complaints, but claimed little progress was made.

They expressed disappointment over what they described as slow responses and unfulfilled assurances.
