President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The ceremony was held on Thursday at the State House in Abuja, with several senior government officials in attendance.
Amupitan’s appointment follows his confirmation by the Senate last week. He takes over from Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure as INEC Chairman has ended.
During the swearing-in, President Tinubu urged Amupitan to protect the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process and work towards strengthening the commission’s capacity to conduct credible and transparent elections across the country.
