Senegal secured their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final with a 1-0 win over Egypt in Wednesday’s semi-final at Tangier’s Ibn Batouta Stadium.

The only goal of the match came in the 78th minute from Saudi Al Nasr forward Sadio Mane, breaking the deadlock and sending Senegal through to the final.

Building on their 1-0 quarterfinal win against Mali, the Lions of Teranga showed a mix of defensive discipline and attacking precision. This victory marks Senegal’s second AFCON final appearance in recent tournaments, cementing their reputation as one of the competition’s most reliable teams.

In the quarterfinal, Iliman Ndiaye scored the lone goal against Mali in the 27th minute, with Mane’s pace and creativity providing vital breakthroughs in attack while the team maintained composure under pressure.

Senegal has been one of the tournament’s most solid sides defensively, conceding very few goals, while their midfield has effectively controlled the tempo in matches.

Senegal will face the winner of the Morocco–Nigeria semi-final in Sunday’s final at Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
