Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the La Liga season came to an abrupt end with a 4-1 defeat to Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
Sevilla started with intensity and purpose, taking control early on as Sanchez and Romero found the net to give the hosts a 2-0 lead within the opening stages.
Barcelona responded late in the first half when Marcus Rashford reduced the deficit, offering a glimmer of hope for Hansi Flick’s side heading into the break.
The visitors pushed for an equalizer in the second half and had their best chance in the 76th minute, but Robert Lewandowski failed to convert from the penalty spot.
Sevilla capitalized on that miss, adding two more goals in the final minutes through Carmona and Adams to seal a commanding 4-1 victory and delight the home fans.
The defeat leaves Barcelona second in the standings with 19 points, two behind leaders Real Madrid, while Sevilla climb to fourth with 13 points after a statement performance.
