Skyewise Group has clarified that the property demolished along the Lekki Expressway in Lagos belongs entirely to the company and not to popular auto influencer Ola of Lagos.
The clarification follows social media reports claiming that the car lot, which was torn down last Saturday, was owned by Ola of Lagos, who is known for showcasing luxury vehicles online. The demolition sparked outrage after videos circulated showing heavy machinery dismantling luxury car display lots along the busy Lekki-Epe corridor, an area known for high-end automobile dealerships.
In a statement shared with PUNCH Online on Monday, Skyewise Group CEO Elvis Abuyere described the demolition as “unfortunate and saddening,” noting it was part of the Lagos State Government’s plan to create access routes for a new waterway development project.
“This incident affected several car lots along the Lekki Expressway, starting from Phase 1, where the Skyewise Group office was located,” Abuyere said.
While expressing sadness over the demolition, he added that the company has already started plans to rebuild a new, improved facility in Lagos. He emphasized that the property was fully owned by Skyewise Group, with only a portion leased to Ola of Lagos for car hire operations and content creation.
“All necessary building approvals, operational permits, dealership licenses, and environmental levies were duly obtained from the Lagos State Government,” Abuyere stated, adding that copies of the documents would be released soon.
He concluded by thanking Nigerians for their support and expressed confidence that Skyewise Group would “emerge stronger and better in no distant future.”
