President Bola Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the “Renewed Hope Ambassador” to spearhead the nationwide rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for party outreach, engagement, and mobilisation, positioning him as the lead promoter of the administration’s agenda across Nigeria.
In his new role, Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, will collaborate with APC leaders and other governors to ensure unity, strategic coordination, and effective communication of government policies. Other APC governors are expected to serve alongside him as “Ambassadors of Hope,” helping to drive grassroots mobilisation and support.
The Ward Development Programme, a central component of the Renewed Hope agenda, is designed to deliver micro-projects, social services, and livelihood support directly to Nigeria’s 8,809 electoral wards.
Onanuga highlighted that the appointment is part of Tinubu’s effort to reinforce public awareness of his administration’s achievements, particularly as the government addresses concerns over inflation and fuel subsidy removal. The statement cited improvements such as seven months of easing inflation, a stabilised exchange rate, rising foreign reserves now exceeding $46bn, increased investor confidence, economic diversification, and the expansion of student loan programmes benefiting over 700,000 students.
Tinubu tasked Uzodimma with ensuring that Nigerians are fully informed about the administration’s progress and accomplishments, strengthening both the government’s policy outreach and the APC’s grassroots engagement.
