Tinubu Challenges Media To Probe States
President Bola Tinubu has called on media leaders to direct stronger scrutiny towards state and local governments across Nigeria. He said journalists should apply the same level of attention they give to his administration to other tiers of government.
The president explained that state and local governments now have greater financial autonomy and control over public funds.
According to him, this makes it necessary for the media to hold subnational authorities accountable for how resources are used.
Tinubu noted that public oversight should not be limited to the federal government alone. He urged media organisations to broaden their focus so that governance at every level receives equal attention.
He added that stronger media scrutiny of states and local councils would help improve transparency and encourage responsible leadership across the country.
