Tinubu Sets Deadline For Political Appointees
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed all political appointees under his administration who intend to contest in the 2027 elections to resign on or before March 31.
The directive was disclosed in a statement by Dewan Goshit, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to the statement, the move is aimed at ensuring that those seeking elective positions focus fully on their political ambitions while maintaining fairness and order within government operations.
The decision aligns with standard political practice, which requires public office holders to step down before engaging in electoral contests to avoid conflicts of interest and misuse of office.
The development signals early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections, with potential candidates expected to begin formal preparations once they leave their current roles.
