Tinubu Yet To Decide Shettima’s 2027 Fate
President Bola Tinubu’s path to the 2027 APC presidential ticket appears settled, with little internal resistance compared to his 2022 primary contest.
Unlike the tense race against figures like Yemi Osinbajo and Rotimi Amaechi, his current position in the party is widely seen as unchallenged.
Attention has now shifted to who will run alongside him as vice president. Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently waiting for Tinubu’s final decision on whether he will remain as running mate or be replaced ahead of the next election.
Political observers note that Shettima has built a strong record of loyalty within the administration and has worked closely with the president on key policies. The earlier debate around religious balance that followed their joint ticket in 2022 has also reduced over time.
Although speculation continues, many within political circles believe Tinubu is likely to retain Shettima due to experience, loyalty and northern political support. Still, the final decision remains open as preparations for 2027 gather pace.
