Donald Trump is reportedly weighing the possibility of commuting Diddy’s prison sentence, and a decision could come as soon as this week, according to a senior White House official.
The source revealed that the President has been “vacillating” on whether to grant the commutation, noting that while several White House staff members have advised against it, “Trump will do what he wants.”
Diddy is currently serving a 50-month sentence for violating the Mann Act. He has completed 13 months so far, and with good behavior, could be released in about two years — though that timeline would be irrelevant if Trump decides to commute his sentence.
Following Diddy’s sentencing earlier this month, his legal team reportedly reached out to a senior White House official with close access to the President to push for a commutation or pardon.
Within days, Trump publicly acknowledged being aware of the request. Despite their strained relationship — stemming from Diddy’s endorsement of Joe Biden during the 2020 election — sources suggest Trump has not ruled out granting clemency.
