Umahi Rejects Sexual Claim About Natasha
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has denied allegations circulating online that he pursued a woman for many years, saying he “owes nobody” and rejecting the suggestion that a prominent senator had accused him of such behaviour.
Sources report that Umahi spoke to journalists while dismissing the claims as baseless social media talk and not reflective of his record in public office.
Responding to critics, Umahi insisted he has never been accused of harassment during his years in government, including as deputy governor and governor.
He said if a lawmaker such as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan had made such a claim, his response would be “bolder”, but maintained there is no credible allegation linking him to her.
The broader controversy centres on claims made by a businesswoman, Tracyniter Nicholas Ohiri, which led to her arraignment on a defamation charge after she accused Umahi of sexual harassment and unpaid debt — an accusation Umahi has consistently denied.
Umahi suggested the story was amplified for social media attention and urged the public to focus on more pressing national and international issues instead of engaging with what he described as unfounded online narratives.
