Nyesom Wike has approved the confirmation of appointment for 1,659 workers in the Federal Capital Territory Administration after they successfully completed the required confirmation process.

The workers were part of 2,281 candidates who participated in the confirmation examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.

The exercise was conducted to determine which staff members would receive permanent confirmation in the administration.

According to a statement issued by the minister’s aide, Lere Olayinka, the chairman of the commission, Emeka Ezeh, explained that several of the affected workers were originally employed between 2016 and 2019, while others joined the service shortly before Wike assumed office in August 2023.

A total of 224 officers were absent, fuelling suspicion that they could be ghost workers. Some of the workers who sat for the confirmation were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others were employed shortly before Wike assumed office in August 2023,” the statement read.

Authorities also revealed that preparations are underway for the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises within the administration.

This development follows an earlier decision in January when the minister approved the promotion of more than 2,000 workers after promotion examinations conducted between November 25 and 29, 2025.
