Young Nigerian Designer Shot Dead In Quilox
A 30-year-old Nigerian immigrant and rising fashion designer, Sheriff Shittu, was fatally shot inside Quilox Restaurant and Lounge in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred around 4:25am during what was meant to be a birthday celebration with friends and family.
Sheriff had stepped out with his younger brother, Fawaz Shittu, when a confrontation reportedly broke out after an intoxicated guest allegedly behaved inappropriately toward women in the club, including Sheriff’s girlfriend.
Though the brothers briefly left the venue, they returned to retrieve a forgotten phone. Shortly after, a single gunshot rang out as the situation escalated.
Despite efforts by a bartender who attempted CPR, Sheriff was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The suspect fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended. The family has raised concerns about how the attacker allegedly gained entry with a weapon.
Sheriff moved to the United States in 2018 and worked as a security guard while developing his fashion label, Riff Ent.
His mother, who had just arrived from Nigeria for a visit, received the devastating news after landing in New York. His family says they remain committed to keeping his dream alive while seeking justice.
