Yusuf Exits NNPP With Lawmakers and Chairmen
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially left the New Nigeria People’s Party. His resignation includes 21 members of the State House of Assembly, eight federal lawmakers, and 44 local government chairmen.
The governor formalised his decision in a letter to the Chairman of the Diso-Chiranchi Ward in Gwale Local Government Area, with the exit taking effect from January 25, 2026.
The mass resignation marks a major shift in Kano State politics, weakening the NNPP’s presence and raising questions about the future alignment of key lawmakers and local officials.
Political analysts suggest the move could have far-reaching implications for upcoming elections in the state, potentially reshaping alliances and party influence.
Party members and residents are awaiting further announcements as the state adjusts to this unexpected political realignment.
