An actress and film producer, Zainab Balogun, has expressed disbelief after being billed N10,000 for a cup of green tea at a restaurant in Lagos.
Taking to Instagram, Zainab recounted that she visited the restaurant with a friend but decided to order only tea since she wasn’t hungry.
She explained that the tea was served in a pot alongside a large cup, and she drank it calmly without checking the price.
She said, “My mouth dropped so much I was hoping the people sitting next to me didn’t see that flies were catching my mouth. What do you mean you boiled water, put two tea bags, and it was ₦10,000?
“I obviously could not argue with them because I drank their tea. There’s no way to give it back. I had to pay.”
Her surprise came when the bill arrived, showing N10,000 for the simple beverage.
The actress humorously noted that she regretted not taking pictures to make the cost worthwhile, adding, “I should have joined another lady doing a photo shoot. You must use your money and the space well.”
She concluded that the experience had taught her a valuable lesson, promising to make her tea at home from now on.
“But I didn’t, and that’s how I paid ₦10,000 for tea in Lagos. There’s tea at home. This will not happen again,” she said.
