Eight people were killed and three others were abducted on Thursday after suspected Boko Haram fighters launched a fresh attack on members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Warabe, a community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
A local source said that “all the members killed are part of the CJTF, except for one.”
According to a report by HumAngle, the attack occurred at about 10:00 am while the CJTF members, who serve as the main defence force in Warabe due to the lack of a permanent military presence, were out gathering firewood.
Residents said the assailants arrived on five motorcycles, carrying around 20 armed fighters equipped with machine guns, while others advanced on foot. The hunters attempted to defend themselves but were eventually overpowered when their ammunition was exhausted.
After the killings, the attackers seized the victims’ weapons and used their mobile phones to lure additional hunters by pretending to request assistance. By the time reinforcements reached the location, the insurgents had already left with the stolen arms.
The report noted that three hunters are still unaccounted for and are believed to have been taken captive.
Residents said the lack of soldiers in the area leaves them vulnerable during such attacks. The closest military base to Warabe is in Pulka, roughly seven kilometres away, while Gwoza town is about 15 kilometres from the community.

Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
