Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally taken up membership in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking his first major political move since exiting the Peoples Democratic Party earlier in the year.
He confirmed the development in a post shared on Monday, where he uploaded a picture of himself holding his new ADC membership card with the caption It’s official.
Atiku’s decision comes months after he walked away from the PDP in July, a departure triggered by deep-rooted internal conflicts and leadership disagreements that had plagued the party for years. His defection now positions the ADC as his new base ahead of the 2027 political contest.
