Atiku Hires US Lobby Firm Ahead Of 2027
Atiku Abubakar has hired a United States lobbying firm as political activities ahead of the 2027 election begin to take shape.
Documents filed with the United States Department of Justice show that Atiku signed a $1.2 million deal with Von Batten-Montague-York in March 2026 to improve his image and influence within American policy circles.
The agreement, signed through his associate Fabiyi Oladimeji and the firm’s managing partner Karl Von Batten, is expected to run for 12 months.
Under the deal, the firm will arrange meetings between Atiku and top US officials, including members of Congress, while also advising on messaging, public relations, and policy positioning.
Part of the plan includes countering narratives linked to the Nigerian government and presenting Atiku’s leadership ideas to key stakeholders in Washington.
In a related development, the lobbying firm said it would engage US authorities, including Donald Trump, over concerns surrounding Nigeria’s opposition space and the state of its electoral process ahead of the next election.
