Eight Kano Reps Dumps NNPP
In Nigeria, eight members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress.
The switch was announced during plenary on Tuesday.
The session was presided over by Tajudeen Abbas, who read letters from the lawmakers explaining their decision.
They blamed the move on ongoing internal crisis within the NNPP.
The development drew attention at the National Assembly, with key figures present, including Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and former Kano governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The defection is expected to affect the political balance in Kano and add to the shifting alliances ahead of future elections.
