Atiku Speaks On Retirement Rumours
In Nigeria, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed claims that he has stepped away from active politics, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The statement was released on Monday through his media office.
The clarification followed online reports alleging that he held a meeting with stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress where he decided to quit politics.
His media team said no such meeting took place at the national level, adding that his recent engagement was limited to party members in Adamawa State.
The statement maintained that a decision as serious as leaving politics would not be shared through rumours or unofficial channels. It added that any such move would be formally announced by his media office.
Atiku’s team also described the reports as part of a wider attempt to create confusion and weaken opposition efforts.
Supporters were urged to ignore the claims and remain focused on ongoing political activities.
