Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has refuted claims that he is attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife, Mabel Makun.
In a statement posted on his Instagram page, AY described the reports as “false, incessant, and insensitive,” adding that they were deliberately misleading and designed to drive traffic and engagement.
He stressed that he has never made or authorised any statements suggesting a reconciliation, noting that he has the platform and credibility to communicate directly with the public if necessary, rather than relying on “faceless blogs and rumour-driven platforms.”
Issuing a firm warning, AY urged the public to ignore such stories and announced that legal action would be taken against anyone continuing to spread defamatory content about his personal life. “Enough of the lies,” he said, emphasising that he would no longer tolerate false narratives about his relationship status.
AY had previously confirmed the end of his nearly 20-year marriage to Mabel in 2023, expressing regret over the loss of his home and acknowledging personal mistakes during the marriage.
