Mohbad Paternity Drama Takes New Turn
An Ikorodu High Court has directed that three separate DNA tests be carried out outside Nigeria to settle the paternity dispute surrounding Liam, the son of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.
The ruling follows delays that had stalled earlier testing efforts and kept tensions alive between the singer’s family and his widow.
The court reached the decision after concerns were raised over the credibility of local testing options.
Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, attended the hearing with his lawyer, who explained that the earlier court-approved process ran into problems over the suitability of the facility meant to conduct the test.
Under the new arrangement, three foreign laboratories will be involved to ensure fairness. Each side will nominate one laboratory, while the court will choose the third.
All samples will be tissue-based, and the results must be consistent before the court accepts any conclusion.
The order is seen as a major step toward ending the long-running dispute.
While Mohbad’s widow has always said the child is the singer’s biological son, his father believes the multiple tests will clear every doubt and finally bring closure to the matter.
