Bandits Repelled In Kwara Community
Residents of Isapa in Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State, faced panic on Sunday evening after suspected bandits stormed the community around 7:00 p.m.
The attackers reportedly fired sporadic shots but were confronted by local hunters.
The intruders appeared to plan a kidnapping, but hunters quickly mobilised and stood their ground, forcing the bandits to retreat.
No casualties or abductions were reported thanks to the swift community response.
Gunfire echoed through the area, keeping residents indoors for the night. Witnesses said the tension lasted for several minutes before the attackers withdrew.
Communities in Kwara have raised alarms over increasing threats from bandits operating near forested borders.
Residents continue to call on security agencies to boost protection in rural areas to prevent future attacks.
