Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending his brief stint with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The formal defection took place on Monday at the Coronation Hall of the Kano Government House, where Yusuf was welcomed by senior party leaders, including former APC National Chairman and ex-Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje; Deputy Senate President and Kano South Senator, Barau Jibrin; Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata; and other top officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Yusuf explained that his decision to rejoin the APC was motivated by a desire to work more closely with the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
Yusuf was elected governor in 2023 on the NNPP platform but had resigned from the party earlier along with several members of the Kano State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives. His return to the APC is seen as a strategic move to strengthen ties with the ruling party ahead of upcoming political developments.
