Shettima travelled with the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Zubaida Umar, alongside other senior government officials.

Acting on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, the Vice President is expected to deliver the President’s message to the people of Kebbi State and receive a detailed briefing on the incident for further communication to the Presidency.

The attack on the school led to the death of the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, who was reportedly killed while attempting to stop the bandits from abducting the girls.

On Monday, the police confirmed that a joint tactical unit had been deployed to search the surrounding forests in an effort to rescue the abducted students.

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the incident and extended his condolences to the families affected.

He also suspended his planned trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, where he was due to attend the G20 Summit and the AU-EU Summit.
