President Bola Tinubu is currently engaged in a closed-door meeting with the Service Chiefs at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. This marks Tinubu’s first discussion with the military leadership since the swearing-in of General Christopher Musa (retd) as the new Minister of Defence on December 4.
The meeting occurs as 115 students kidnapped from a Catholic boarding school in November remain in captivity, heightening national security concerns.
Earlier, on November 26, Tinubu declared a national security emergency and ordered new recruitments into the security agencies. He also mandated the withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs.
Additionally, the session follows Nigeria’s Senate approval of Tinubu’s request to deploy troops to the Republic of Benin after a recent attempted coup there.
At the time of this report, further details about the meeting have not been disclosed.
