Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy has made history once again, becoming the first Nigerian artist to receive five career Grammy nominations in album categories.
His latest project, No Sign of Weakness (2025), has been nominated for Best Global Music Album at the upcoming 2026 Grammy Awards.
Burna Boy will compete with global acts including Sounds of Kumbha by Siddhant Bhatia, Éclairer le Monde (Light the World) by Youssou N’Dour, Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live) by Shakti, Chapter III: We Return to Light by Anoushka Shankar featuring Alam Khan and Sarathy Korwar, and Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo by Brazilian icons Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia.
The Last Last hitmaker previously featured in Justin Bieber’s Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe), which earned a Grammy album nomination in 2022 for the song Loved by You.
Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated albums include African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), I Told Them (2023), and now No Sign of Weakness (2025) — solidifying his global dominance in the music industry.
This year, he also secured a Best African Music Performance nomination for his single Love, alongside fellow Nigerian stars Davido, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid, as well as Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, Mehran Matin, and South Africa’s Tyla.
With two new nominations, Burna Boy now boasts 13 total Grammy nods, having won the award for Twice As Tall at the 63rd Grammy Awards.
The 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
These latest nominations highlight the global rise of African music, with Nigerian artists continuing to lead the charge on the world stage.
