Bwala Speaks On Surgery After Interview
Daniel Bwala has disclosed that he underwent throat surgery days after his controversial interview with Mehdi Hasan on Al Jazeera.
Speaking on a television programme, Bwala said the surgery took place about eight days after the interview, which sparked widespread reactions online.
He also pushed back against criticism, blaming a section of social media users for amplifying the backlash.
The presidential aide described Hasan’s questioning style as confrontational, arguing that the interview was designed to discredit the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said much of the exchange focused on past statements he made while in the opposition, which he admitted before asking to move on.
The interview gained attention after clips circulated online showing Hasan confronting Bwala with previous remarks, including criticisms of Tinubu made before his defection to the ruling party.
When Bwala denied some of the statements, video evidence was presented during the programme.
The exchange also touched on Nigeria’s security situation, with references to reports by international rights groups, further fueling debate across social media.
