Nigeria’s Rivers United and Zambia’s Power Dynamos have been drawn together in Group A of the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League, completing a strong quartet following Monday’s official draw held in Johannesburg.
The draw, conducted at the studios of CAF’s broadcast partner, SuperSport, unveiled several exciting fixtures, including a highly anticipated rematch between defending champions Pyramids FC of Egypt and Moroccan powerhouse RS Berkane.
This year’s edition promises one of the most competitive group stages in CAF history, featuring seven former champions alongside the current title holders in a lineup filled with experience and quality.
Group A headlines the fixtures with a major reunion, as Pyramids FC and RS Berkane — winners of the last CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup respectively — renew their rivalry after their CAF Super Cup showdown, which Pyramids won 1–0.
Nigeria’s Rivers United and Zambia’s Power Dynamos join the group, setting up what is expected to be an intense and balanced contest featuring clubs with ambition and proven continental pedigree.
Record 12-time winners Al Ahly of Egypt lead Group B, where they will face Tanzania’s Young Africans, Moroccan champions AS FAR, and Algeria’s JS Kabylie — a pool rich in tradition and fierce competition.
Group C brings together some of Africa’s biggest clubs — Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Sudan’s Al Hilal, Algeria’s MC Alger, and DR Congo’s St Éloi Lupopo — all known for their passionate supporters and storied histories.
Four-time champions Espérance de Tunis headline Group D, alongside Simba SC of Tanzania, Petro de Luanda of Angola, and Mali’s Stade Malien, setting the stage for another thrilling round of continental matchups.
The group stage will begin over the weekend of November 21 to 23, with two rounds scheduled before the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
The tournament will pause during the AFCON and resume from January 23 to 25, 2026. The knockout phase is set to kick off on March 13, 2026.
Winners of the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League will receive $4 million in prize money, while runners-up will take home $2 million.
