In a statement in which he explained his decision, Shaba expressed serious concern about the present political environment and the direction of governance in both Niger State and the country at large. He stated that his decision followed deep reflection and wide consultations.

According to him, after reassessing his personal values and sense of public responsibility, he concluded that he could no longer continue in his role. He explained that current political developments no longer aligned with his beliefs, principles, or aspirations for meaningful public service.

Shaba further disclosed that he has now aligned himself with the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

“As a result, I have formally ended my membership of the APC,” he stated. “I have chosen to associate with the African Democratic Congress because I believe it provides a more credible avenue for promoting good governance, transparency, inclusiveness, and a people-focused political future for Niger State and Nigeria.”

He stressed that his understanding of politics is centred on service to the people rather than personal interest.

“For me, politics should always be about service, accountability, and leadership that puts the people first. When one’s conscience is no longer in harmony with political realities, integrity requires making a decisive choice,” Shaba concluded.
