Canada Updates Residency And Immigration Fees For Nigerians
In Canada, the government has announced an increase in fees for permanent residence and citizenship affecting Nigerians and other foreign applicants.
The update was issued by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada through an official notice.
The new charges will take effect from April 30, 2026, with applications submitted from that date subject to the revised fees.
Authorities said the adjustment is part of routine updates aimed at keeping services running smoothly and in line with rising costs.
Permanent residence fees will see modest increases, with some categories rising by as little as $25, while citizenship fees will go up by about 2.7 per cent.
Key changes include higher costs for business, family, and provincial nominee applications.
Officials explained that fee reviews happen every two years under existing regulations to manage demand and programme costs, as more people continue to apply for residency in Canada.
