As part of measures to curb insecurity in the state, the government of Enugu State has announced recruitment into its Forest Guards Corps.

The recruitment was announced by the Commander, Enugu State Forest Guard, Akinbayo Olasoji, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police. The exercise, it was gathered, would be done across the state’s 17 local government areas. Olasoji stated that;

“This recruitment process marks a historic milestone in strengthening Enugu’s internal security architecture, safeguarding forests and farmlands, and enhancing the safety and livelihoods of rural communities"

"The recruitment is designed as a community-driven and transparent process. Traditional rulers, presidents-general of town unions, and youth leaders will verify the origin, residency, and integrity of applicants. All screening forms have been dispatched to the 17 LGAs for issuance under the joint supervision of the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Local Government DSS Officers, and Forest Guard Sector Officers.”

He stated that already serving Forest Guard personnel are required to complete the forms for proper documentation and confirmation of their appointments.
