Court Halts ADC Congress In Adamawa
A High Court in Yola has blocked the planned congress of the African Democratic Congress in Adamawa State, halting moves to elect a new chairman.
The ruling came on Thursday, April 10, 2026, following a suit filed by Isreal Ishaku against party figures including Sadiq Dasin and Ishaya Bauka.
The case adds fresh tension to the party’s internal struggle in the state.
The court, presided over by Justice Kyanson S. Lawanson, granted an ex parte application after reviewing the documents presented.
It ordered all parties to maintain the current leadership structure pending the hearing of the case. The decision effectively stops any attempt to proceed with the congress or alter the party’s leadership for now.
The congress, earlier fixed for April 9 to 10, was part of efforts by rival factions to take control of the party structure.
The dispute has been growing, with different groups laying claim to authority within the party. Adamawa, known as the political base of Atiku Abubakar, has now become a key battleground in the crisis.
The matter has been adjourned to April 17, when the court is expected to hear the substantive suit. The outcome could shape the direction of the party in the state ahead of future elections.
Until then, the leadership tussle remains unresolved, with tensions still high among party members.
