Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a fresh warning to truck drivers against the unauthorized use of its logo on their vehicles, stressing that the act causes reputational harm and confuses the public.
The company noted that despite earlier cautions, some truck owners unaffiliated with Dangote continue to display its logo, sometimes for personal gain. According to the group, some of these vehicles have been involved in incidents wrongly linked to its operations, resulting in embarrassment.
To curb the misuse, Dangote announced plans to intensify monitoring in partnership with law enforcement and security agencies while pursuing legal action against offenders.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company stated.
The group also urged the public and media to confirm facts before circulating reports, especially those linking road accidents to its fleet without verification.
Dangote operates one of the continent’s largest commercial truck fleets, with more than 12,000 vehicles in Nigeria, including over 3,000 managed by third-party contractors. On average, over 6,000 trucks are deployed daily to support its logistics operations, sustaining more than 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.
